How hard is maintaining discus fish vs a regular community fish tank?

Before you consider keeping discus, get the proper size tank. They need a 75 gallon for a school. A breeding pair can get by in a 55. A 30 gallon could only be used as a grow out for discus. The guy in the store is trying to make money. 30 gallons is not suitable for adult discus.
