Question about lifting weights?

Hi. I was just lifting some weights today, but I was running on a tight schedule so I didn't exactly have enough time to do as much as I wanted. So I didn't get a very good work out. Would it be ok if I were to continue the workout like a few hours later, or would that be bad for my muscles since the 'healing process' would already have started? Thanks.
