SO, are you supposed to have holes in your mouth after getting wisdom teeth removed?

Im young, 14, and the surgeon said that recovery should be quick for me and i should let my gums heal. was feeling around at this stitch that was bothering me and i looked in a mirror, and i saw a huge white mound there, and i cant believe i didnt feel it. I thought it was something inside of the gum and i just torn something, but it turns out it was just food i guess. So i look again, and i see like a BLACK HOLE THERE!! is that supposed to be there, did i rip something, and need to get restitched? I rinse with salt water nightly, should i be worried?
